Easy Homemade Pizza Dough & Pizza Sauce

Elevate your pizza night with this ultimate easy homemade pizza dough and sauce recipe! Perfect for beginners and seasoned cooks alike, this duo ensures you have a delicious base and rich flavour without the fuss.

Cooking Time: 15 - 20 minutes


Ingredients:

Pizza Dough

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast

  • 1 1/4 cup warm water

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil


Pizza Sauce

  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • Salt to taste


Kitchen utensil’s Needed:

-Mixing Bowl

- Measuring Cups and Spoons

- Whisk or Fork

- Wooden Spoon or Dough Scraper

- Rolling Pin

- Baking Sheet or Pizza Stone

- Parchment Paper (optional)

- Knife or Pizza Cutter

- Garlic Press (optional)

- Grater (optional)

- Plastic Wrap or Kitchen Towel

- Spatula


Directions:

Pizza Dough:

  1. In a bowl, combine the yeast, warm water, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until the dough comes together.

  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place it back in the bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.


Pizza Sauce:

  1. In a saucepan add the olive oil & garlic and sauté, combine the crushed tomatoes,, oregano, paprika, and salt.

  2. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until slightly thickened.


Assembling the Pizza:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.

  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and shape.

  3. Place the dough on a cornmeal baking sheet or pizza stone. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, add your favourite toppings, and bake for 15-20 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  4. Slice, serve, and enjoy your delicious homemade pizza!
