Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast

  • 1 cup warm milk

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup baking soda (for boiling)

  • Coarse salt for topping


Kitchen Utensils: 

  • Mixing bowl

  • baking sheet,

  • pot

  • whisk

  • measuring cups/spoons


Directions:

1. In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

2. Add warm milk, melted butter, sugar, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about an hour.

4. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and bring a large pot of water to a boil with the baking soda.

5. Divide the dough into equal pieces and shape them into pretzels. Boil each pretzel in the baking soda water for 30 seconds, then place them on a baking sheet.

6. Sprinkle coarse salt on top of the pretzels and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

7. Brush with melted butter and enjoy warm!
