Nonna's Naughty Bolognese: A Spicy Love Bite from Italy!

Ingredients:

  • 200g spaghetti

  • 1/2 lb ground beef

  • 1 carrot, finely chopped

  •  2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 tbsp tomato puree

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup red wine

  •  1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 tsp dried basil

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Freshly Grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, for serving

Kitchen utensils:

  • Large pot

  • Large skillet

  • Wooden spoon

  • Measuring spoons

  • Measuring cups

  • Knife

  • Cutting board


Directions:

1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and carrot. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Remove any excess fat.

4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato puree, milk, red wine, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.

5. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Serve the spicy Bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti and top with grated Parmesan cheese.
