Bedtime, that magical hour when you attempt to persuade your little bundles of energy into their nests for a long, peaceful slumber.


It's a time-honoured tradition, much like herding cats or negotiating with mini-dictators about the virtues of sleep over building a pillow fort at 9 PM.

Step 1: The Great Unwinding

Start by creating a wind-down routine that doesn't involve reading the entire Harry Potter series in one night. Think of this as the pre-game show—a series of calming activities that signal to your kids' brains that the sandman is en route. This could include:

  • Pyjama Parade: Turn getting into PJs into a fun event. March around the house in a goofy fashion, or let them pick their favourite superhero or princess sleepwear—whatever gets them excited about the change.

  • Dance the Wiggles Away: A pre-bedtime dance-off to some mellow tunes can help burn off that last bit of energy. Just avoid anything that has the word "party" in the title or is by a band named after a caffeinated beverage.


Step 2: The Zzzen Zone

Transform your child’s bedroom into a sleep-inducing haven. This isn't just about thread counts and blackout curtains—it's about setting the scene for sleep success:

  • Soothing Sounds: Introduce a playlist of gentle nature sounds, spa music or some classical music. Nothing says "sleepy time" like a soft symphony or the gentle patter of rain.
